Brother Bart is a native of Tuscaloosa County. He was raised at Coaling and attended Brookwood High School. After high school he earned degrees from Samford University in Birmingham and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
He has been married to Carol Clements for 38 years and they are the parents of two grown children; Heather (Timothy Gooden) and Bart III (Carrie). In addition they share the joy of being grandparents to 5 grandchildren.
In 2003 Brother Bart and Carol began their service to Gilgal. Before that they served several Baptist churches in Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky.

Lynda was born in Tuscaloosa, AL and raised in Pensacola, Florida. She is married to her husband John, they have 1 daughter, Michele, 1 granddaughter, Nicole and…a black schnauzer named Zoee. Lynda has been an executive secretary and a church financial secretary in a different denominations for the past 17 years. She enjoys reading, fellowship, and shopping! Joy Sherman, Pianist
Joy Houchin Sherman was born in Louisville, Kentucky and as a young girl grew up in Fairfield, Alabama. She moved to Tuscaloosa in the ninth grade when her father accepted the pastorate at Gilgal Baptist Church.
Since her graduation from high school and The University of Alabama where she majored in Public Relations, Joy has lived in various locations, but Huntsville, Alabama is where her two sons, Aaron and Jordan, were born and grew up. Joy returned to Tuscaloosa 12 years ago and is now the church pianist for Gilgal Baptist. Joy had the opportunity to accompany the girls' and male's chorus in junior high and high school, and the Lord has provided her with the privilege to serve as a church pianist for over thirty-five years.
In addition to her responsibilities at Gilgal, Joy is an administrative assistant in the Office of Advancement at The University of Alabama.
